"Back to a connection with nature"

FiBL assistant and vegetable farmer

"I am very proud to be a farmer. It is an ancient profession, yet most people don't even know when tomatoes are in season, let alone how to grow them. Let's reconnect with nature and appreciate what we have on our plates!"

A life choice

"About 15 years ago, I started transitioning to an organic lifestyle, which involved making sacrifices.

At the same time, I started to take a closer look at our food system, the price and quality of our food, and the disconnect between consumers and producers."

Re-connecting with nature

"I spent most of my childhood outdoors. At home, I would play in the garden or the woods. During the holidays, I helped out at my aunt's farm. For me, this close connection with nature, of which we are a part, has always been natural.

In order to re-establish this connection, and strengthen our awareness of, and appreciation for, food production, we should get back out into the fields."

Her new direction

"I put this idea into practice in 2020, when I started volunteering weekly at a vegetable farm. I enjoyed the physical work in the fresh air so much that I completed the Microferme training course from 2021 to 2022.

Since 2023, I have been working part-time as a vegetable farmer at Praz Bonjour, a micro-farm where we do everything by hand except mow the grass."
