"Empowering women – for hope and resilience"

FiBL project partner and agroecology practitioner

"Healthy soil, healthy food, healthy people and resilient communities. As women, we bring empathy, patience, collaboration, and a deep understanding. When we are empowered in agriculture, we cultivate hope, resilience, and a better future for generations to come."

Her focus

"I am an agroecology practitioner, trainer in organic agriculture, and the founder of the 'Community Sustainable Agriculture and Healthy Environmental Program' (CSHEP) in Kenya.

For many years, I have worked alongside smallholder farmers, especially women and young people, helping them adopt sustainable farming practices that improve their livelihoods while protecting the environment. My focus is on participation and peer learning."

A calling

"My journey into agriculture was not simply a career choice, it was a calling. Everything changed when I had the opportunity to train kitchen gardening to Maasai women.

I watched them produce food for their families, earn income from surplus harvests, and regain confidence in their ability to shape their future.

It showed me that agriculture is about much more than growing crops; it is about restoring dignity, creating opportunities, and transforming lives."

For dream work

"My journey has been far from easy; many people thought I was wasting my life, pursuing a dream that had no funding, but I could not walk away from the women whose lives were beginning to change.

So, I continued the work with faith, determination, and the support of my family. Every healthy field reminds me that caring for the Earth also means caring for the people. Today, I have the chance to collaborate with FiBL."
