Since 2019, FiBL has been accompanying and supporting the "KCOA" project (Knowledge Centre for Organic Agriculture and Agroecology in Africa) by promoting key cooperative activities. These focus on knowledge management, the development and dissemination of practice- and policy-relevant knowledge products in the field of organic agriculture and agroecology, the promotion of networks and the support of evidence-based policy initiatives.
The "KCOA project" is currently in a transition phase to "KCOA 2.0". In this phase, FiBL is working closely with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the "KCOA" stakeholders involved. During this transition, FiBL collaborates with and supports GIZ and the "KCOA actors" by taking on the role of a "KCOA ambassador", engaging in strengthening and facilitating interaction, professional exchange and increasing networking between the five regional knowledge hubs in Africa.
At the same time, FiBL will also support the connection between "KCOA" and other relevant platforms and initiatives on the African continent and at global level. Finally, FiBL is helping to strengthen the interface between practice and policy with scientifically sound findings and data in order to further expand the evidence base in the transition phase.
