The project aims to develop and evaluate practical methods for controlling tiger grass (Cyperus esculentus). Farmers in Liechtenstein will be actively involved in the development of these methods. To this end, a working group led by (kba) agrarsolution will be formed, bringing together farmers, advisors and researchers (FiBL, Agroscope). Together, they will develop and define at least three strategies to reduce the stock of nutgrass and minimise its spread. FiBL is responsible for the scientific support of organic control strategies, sampling and laboratory analyses.
The defined strategies will be tested in practice over a three-year period (2027–2029) to assess their effectiveness. Monitoring includes regular visual observations, photographic documentation and annual soil sampling. Participating farmers document the farm operations. The project results and successful control strategies are published annually and made available to farmers in Liechtenstein as well as to Swiss project partners and farmers.
