In the face of growing uncertainties relating to climate, irregular crops, weeds and pests, this project aims to develop an opportunistic strategy for dynamic crop rotations. This will allow cultivation decisions to be adapted during the season. The project proposes more resilient and economically viable practices. The goal is to provide farmers with simple, practical and customisable tools that enable them to swiftly identify alternatives, minimise losses and capitalise on opportunities.
Currently, systems are rigid and decision-making tools are either too complex or not sufficiently integrated at the rotation level. Drawing on feedback from the field and existing experiments, the project will develop a concrete approach to be tested with partner farmers. The project aims to strengthen the adaptability of farms in the canton of Vaud in the face of uncertainty while facilitating the transition to a more dynamic and strategic form of agriculture.
