Bio-specific carbon footprints of10 significant product groups of the Sonnentor company with a focus on the calculation of hotspots

Abstract

As part of this project, detailed greenhouse gas balances (GHG calculations) are drawn up for up to ten key Sonnentor product groups. The aim is to present the climate-relevant emissions along the entire value chain in a transparent and comprehensible manner.
The calculations specifically take into account the special features of organic farming - including field work, fertilisation, compost manage-ment and land use changes (LULUC). The specific production conditions of Sonnentor suppliers are also included in the balancing, such as drying, grinding, smoking and roasting processes. Hotspots are analysed and optimisation potential is discussed.
