Sustainable plant protection against invasive pests in pomiculture and viticulture

Abstract

The InvaProtect project aims to create sustainable plant protection against invasive pests in pomiculture and viticulture along the Upper Rhine. 30 partners from the region of the Upper Rhine (Germany, France and Switzerland) collaborate on this important project. The main focus is the Drosophila suzukii. The fragmented plots for fruit and wine cultivation that are typical for the Upper Rhine region host various animal and plant species in their fringe structures; however, they also provide food and shelter for invasive pests. Moreover, in the prevalent warm climate, imported pests unware of national borders feel at home. A collaboration beyond borders is essential for achieving the aspired goals. Relevant findings are published in technical leaflets and scientific journals.
