The objective of SME-ORGANICS is to improve policies and programmes in order to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of SMEs in the organic sector of seven EU regions and the Canton of Aargau (Switzerland). The project aims to support SMEs in improving their performance in order to enforce the growth capacity of the entire organic regional sector in regional, national and international markets.
In the Canton of Aargau, support measures for an innovative and sustainable agriculture are legally based on the cantonal constitution and the cantonal agricultural law and aim for a market-oriented and competitive agri-food supply chain which can deal with market liberalisation. Within SME-ORGANICS, FiBL develops a cantonal Action Plan for the organic sector together with the stakeholders.This plan aims to support the cantonal policy for agriculture and strengthen the performance, competitiveness and further development of SMEs in the organic sector in the Canton of Aargau.
