In the second episode of our new series "Voices on climate", FiBL policy analyst Sabine Reinecke discusses the links between climate change and agricultural policy in Switzerland and at an international level.

The next major climate conference will take place in Belém, Brazil, from 10 to 21 November 2025. By the end of September, the signatory states must submit their contributions, which should show how the 1.5-degree target can be achieved. Switzerland completed its report on climate protection contributions early, at the beginning of the year. However, the average temperature in our latitudes is already 2.8 degrees higher than in pre-industrial times. There is, therefore, an urgent need for action. Agriculture and agricultural policy also have a role to play, as Sabine Reinecke points out in her article.
