Protecting soil with art

SOILSCAPE Logo.

SOILSCAPE wants to promote soil preservation across Europe and beyond with culture and creativity.

How can the importance of soil for humans and the environment be expressed artistically? This is the question addressed by the SOILSCAPE project, of which FiBL is a partner. The project is looking for creative ideas to raise public awareness of the often overlooked but vital importance of soil. Selected proposals will receive financial support for implementation.

SOILSCAPE is a four-year European project investigating how to improve public understanding of soil processes, spatial diversity and the soil functions in cultural landscapes. Therefore, the project is looking for artistic ideas that raise awareness of the importance of soil.

Three projects with a local, national or international focus will be funded in Switzerland. The Swiss call for proposals focuses on visual arts, educational video games and films. Artistic communication campaigns on the topic of soil, as well as other approaches that enable broad public participation are also possible.

Applications must be submitted exclusively via the opencalls.fund platform, linked below. The deadline for submissions is 30 September 2025.
