The event is organised as a Pre-Conference prior to the Organic World Congress (OWC) of IFOAM, taking place 9-11 November 2017 in Delhi. The venue will be the National Centre of Organic Farming at Ghaziabad (close to New Delhi) in India.
Co-organisers of this event are the Swiss Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL), the Organic Farming Association of India (OFAI), the National Centre of Organic Farming (NCOF) in India, the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI under ICAR), the Indian Livestock Development & Ethnoveterinary group ANTHRA and IFOAM Organics International.
This Pre-Conference on Organic Animal Husbandry will highlight the role of livestock in sustainable agriculture, with an emphasis on organic livestock rearing globally. It will focus on the main challenges, taking into account the diversity of organic and sustainable animal husbandry systems.
The programme will include keynote speakers & plenary sessions, technical & scientific sessions with oral presentations, poster sessions & workshops, farm-visits & attractive excursions before the conference.
Recommendations emerging from the different thematic sessions of the pre-conference will be presented and discussed at the workshop sessions within the framework of the main Organic World Congress on the 9th of November (12.00-13.20 h). Recommendations will be made for the IFOAM General Assembly on development and research needs for organic animal husbandry.
It is very important to register soon for our pre-conference (see link below); you will then get a hotel room at reduced rates. The local organisers have made proposals for hotels, which you will find at the registration site. You can now register via the link below. Registration is free of charge if you also take part in the OWC, even though the system might ask you to select a payment method.
Under this link you can also register for the workshop 'A Glimpse into the world of medicinal plants and Ayurveda in animal care' on 6th of November 2017 (from 11:00-18:00 h). Later on that day there will be – in a parallel session after 16 h – also a special workshop for the Indian colleagues on animal welfare in organic farms.
Do not forget to register for one of the attractive excursions (see updated brochure):
- Option A – a longer 4.5 day excursion before the conference with farm and touristic visits (proposed sites: Udaipur, Sadri, Ranakpur, Kumhalgarh, Jodhpur)
- Option B – a short 1-2 day excursion on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th with farm visits (proposed sites: Rishikesh on the foot hills of the Himalayas and a place where medicinal plants are prepared for veterinary use)
Both excursions allow to participate in the above mentioned workshop on medicinal plants and Ayurveda medicine on 6th November 2017. Once you have registered for the excursions, you will get more detailed information from the Indian organizers.
We are looking forward to meet you at the IAHA-conference in India!
