This project examines the role of organic farming in the preventive protection of drinking water and water bodies, addressing an existing knowledge gap regarding collaborations between water suppliers, beverage manufacturers, and agricultural businesses. Through a nationwide status-quo analysis, the project identifies current initiatives that promote organic farming within water abstraction zones, water protection areas, and spring catchment areas, while also analyzing the underlying framework conditions, models of cooperation, success factors, and potential barriers. To this end, the project involves surveying water suppliers, beverage manufacturers, and farmers. The objective is to identify opportunities for better integrating organic farming into water management strategies, document "good practice" examples, and determine areas where further research is required. In doing so, the project contributes to the implementation of the "Organic Strategy 2030" (BioStrategie 2030) and the National Water Strategy.
