Organic action plan for the Canton of Valais

Abstract

The Agricultural Service of the Canton of Valais decided to establish an action plan to promote organic farming.

The various players in the agricultural world are working together to strengthen organic farming, which will enable Valais farmers to improve their economic situation in the long term. With this in mind :

• Targeted research will provide technical solutions that can be applied in the field.
• Strengthened extension will ensure professional support for farms.
• The market will be expanded in order to take over the added value of organic production and to increase the quantities marketed.

The project agreement defines about thirty measures in the various fields of agriculture and concerns field crops, arboriculture, viticulture and animal production. Training in these areas will also be expanded accordingly.
