The objective of the project is to take stock of assessment methods and metrics of national agricultural research systems and better understand the role of research in innovation pathways in order to develop a model that can be promoted and used for strengthening national agricultural research systems. This will contribute to agricultural innovation and to sustainable agri-food systems transformation. It will enable the Research and Extension Unit of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to support countries in designing and implementing evidence-based research policies, investments and capacity development of research towards achieving their sustainable agricultural and rural development goals through strengthened agricultural innovation systems.
