New FiBL guide supports MAP producers in Kosovo to build soil fertility and climate resilience

FiBL has released a new technical publication in three languages on cover crops in medicinal and aromatic plant production for trainers and farmers Kosovo. The publication is one in a series of practical guides that are developed within the EREA programme in Kosovo.

Cover crops have the potential of playing a key role in organic medicinal and aromatic plant production (MAP) systems by improving soil fertility, while preventing erosion and nutrient losses. The new guide, tailored to Kosovo's conditions, provides producers with practical, field-level instructions on cover crops with information on species selection, sowing, termination and crop rotation planning.

The publication also highlights FiBL's overarching focus within EREA: building humus levels through compost and green manures to strengthen soil resilience under climate change. Enhancing soil organic matter reinforces the long-term productive capacity of soils and supports farmers in adapting their systems to increasingly variable conditions.
The publication was developed within the EREA programme in Kosovo, implemented by Caritas Switzerland and funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC). The short guide is available in English, Albanian and Serbian language.
