International Symposium on Mediterranean Organic Agriculture

Abstract

The symposium that took place in December 2013 had the following with the following objectives:

  • Overview of the current progress in research and development, achievements, constraints and future challenges for the organic sector in the Mediterranean basin.
  • Review of progress in certification of local products through labels and trademarks relating to the land, and identification of the future challenges.
  • Platform for dialogue and exchange between researchers, scientists and policymakers working on biological products and the products of certified origin, in order to identify similarities and points of complementarity between the two sectors.
  • Debate on ethnobiological themes, including the relationship between diet, organic farming, production of Mediterranean origin and identity.
