Research for the Agroecological Network in Southern Africa

Abstract

The project "Research for the Agroecological Network in Southern Africa (RAENS)" is a project funded by the European Union with the aim of establishing a robust, innovative and sustainable transdisciplinary multi-actor research and knowledge network for agroecology in Southern Africa. People from a wide range of sectors - research, education, agriculture and civil society - are working closely together.

The project aims to strengthen existing initiatives, demonstrate how diverse and effective agroecological methods are, and facilitate the shift in agricultural education and research towards agroecological and regenerative methods of food production.

In addition, "RAENS" promotes the cultivation of environmentally friendly fibres and animal feed and provides knowledge that can support political decisions in favour of sustainable agriculture. This creates fertile ground for agroecological work, learning and research.
