Anti Fraud Initiative organizes workshop in October in Brussels

The Anti Fraud Initiative organizers - the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL), Resource Protection Ltd. (GfRS) and the Louis Bolk Institute - are organising a workshop on the European import scheme for organic products on October 13, 2011 in Brussels, Belgium. The detailed agenda will be available at a later date.

The European Union is currently implementing the revised rules on the import regime. The first list of certification bodies approved for their operations in Third Countries is expected to be published very soon.

The workshop will help to better understand the criteria for assessment of certification bodies and provides a platform for control bodies, accreditation bodies, authorities and traders to discuss approval and surveillance procedures under the new import system.

The workshop aims at contributing to the elaboration of the Code of Good Practice agreed by the sector as encouraged by the Commission in the guidelines on imports of organic products into the European Union.
