Bio Suisse, the umbrella organisation of Swiss organic farmers, has financed an office dealing with issues related to education and training since 2000. The organisation supports the transfer of knowledge about organic agriculture at each level (from apprentices to active professionals). Political work for education in organic agriculture is carried out, curricula are developed and agricultural schools are supported in their work. These tasks are contracted to FiBL and strategically led by a group of organic farmers, professors and a member of the Bio Suisse committee. In 2012 an „education strategy“ was developed and introduced by the Bio Suisse committee. The office is also keeping a list of organic farms where practical work can be carried out during the 3-year apprenticeship. It motivates apprentices to acquire knowledge about organic agriculture, collaborates in the preparation of educational material and the promotion of the profession as organic farmer.
