The aim of the joint project of Coop, ProSpecieRara (PSR, the project leader) and FiBL is to pave the way for attractive and ecologically producible traditional fruit varieties to be included in stores. After selecting suitable varieties certified by PSR covering as many flavours as possible and the entire sales period, they are cultivated on organic farms in a marketable quantity. The producers are supported with advisory services. Research lies its focus on storage suitability in modern long-term storage as well as production technique like requirements in plant protection, thinning trees, training of trees and optimal time of harvest.
