Rapeseed: Organic production and selection of pest-tolerant varieties for Switzerland

Original titleCOLza: production biO et choix de variétés tolérantes aux Ravageurs pour la Suisse
Abstract

Rapeseed produces an edible oil of good nutritional quality. It is a plant well adapted to the northern European climate in general, and can perform very well in Switzerland. It is nevertheless demanding in terms of inputs, especially nitrogen fertilisation and pest control. Extensive or organic production is therefore made difficult.

The aim of this project is to identify varieties, hybrids and lines with characteristics that favour extensive production, to propose a new list of recommendations for organic cultivation (line-bred varieties), and to improve the variety descriptions to take into account an improved tolerance to pest attacks.
