Development of a teaching module on the subject of "successful farm succession" for agricultural vocational and technical schools

Abstract

Farm succession needs timely preparation and support, and potential farm successors need to address the issue early on (both within and outside the family). In vocational and technical schools, the topic of "successful farm succession" is usually not addressed - or only marginally.

As part of the project, a handout for vocational and technical school students on the topic of "succeeding farm succession" is to be created. The aim is to sensitize potential successors to a possible farm succession at an early stage and to encourage preparation "at all levels" (socio-economic advice, family advice and legal advice).

Students of vocational and technical education should learn where they can get external support and how they can network in order to avoid a failure of possible farm successions due to a lack of advice. The project should contribute to planning farm successions as early as possible and to taking important steps in time.
