Indicators and monitoring of agricultural soil biodiversity

Abstract

This project is part of the research and development programme “Resources” from the Canton of Vaud. This programme aims at developing an action plan for farmers wishing to improve soil biodiversity on their farm. The project aims are:

  • assessing functional soil biodiversity through simple indicators,
  • raising farmers’ interest in soil biological activity,
  • highlighting the relationship between soil biology and soil fertility,
  • promoting farming practices that improve soil biodiversity for the protection of the resources soil and biodiversity.
