In preparation for the first Asian IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements) Organic World Congress, organisers announce a call for papers for the Organic World Congress and for the third ISOFAR Scientific Conference, taking place concurrently. The deadline for submissions for both conferences is November 30, 2010.

The Organic World Congress (OWC), organized every three years, is the space where the organic movement comes to meet, exchange experiences, and develop ideas and strategies for the development and growth of organic agriculture everywhere. The 17th IFOAM Organic World Congress will be held in the Republic of Korea from September 26, 2011 to October 5, 2011. The third ISOFAR Scientific Conference will take place concurrently from September 28, 2011 to October 1, 2011.

The organisers of the Congress are particularly interested in submissions featuring development, innovation, and business models that enhance the contribution and livelihoods of small-holders. Also important are organic agriculture and water conservation, short supply chains, and collaboration between organic movements and local governments.

While IFOAM focuses mainly on practical issues for the improvement of the organic sector, ISOFAR seeks to promote and encourage a scientific approach to the various challenges in organic agriculture. ISOFAR welcomes papers on all aspects of organic agriculture and particularly calls for the submission of cross-disciplinary papers and issues related to the agricultural situation in Asia.

Papers are due by November 30, 2010. For complete conference information and to submit papers, please visit the websites listed below.

FiBL organized the 1st and the 13th IFOAM congresses (1977 in Sissach, Switzerland; 2000 in Basel) and was a co-organizer of  the first and second ISOFAR conferences (2005 in Adelaide, Australia; 2008 in Modena, Italy).
