Workshop series on solutions for improving agroecosystem and crop efficiency for water and nutrient use

Join us for a series of workshops focusing on below-ground research, upscaling knowledge from experiments to the farm and future proofing in a changing climate. The events are being organized by the Horizon 2020 project SolACE (Solutions for improving Agroecosystem and Crop Efficiency for water and nutrient use). The SolACE project, in which FiBL Switzerland is a partner, aims to help European agriculture face major challenges, notably increased rainfall variability and reduced use of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers for both economic and ecological purposes.

The workshops are organized in three parts, each focusing on a different topic.

  1. The Roots of Agriculture: A series of Stakeholder Events on below-ground research from the SolACE project
    • Too Deep or Not Too Deep: Deep-rooting – 20 January
    • To Dig or Not To Dig: Root phenotyping for breeding – 10 February
    • To deal or Not to deal: Root and plant Microbiome interactions – 3 March
  2. Upscaling Knowledge from Experiments to the Farm: How are bio-stimulants employed in controlled and un-controlled environments – 7 February
  3. Future Proofing in a Changing Climate: Modelling Farming Scenarios in Europe to Aid Decision-Making – 1 March

These events will feed into the final SolACE conference, Improving Agroecosystem and Crop Efficiency for Water and Nutrient Use: Lessons Learned and Future Implications from a Horizon 2020 Project. The conference will be held in Brussels, Belgium on 12 April 2022 and will highlight policy and future research implications of the project.
