Video: Pig feeding – effect of silage on the occurrence of gastric ulcers

A lack of structured feed increases the risk of gastric ulcers, a common health problem in pigs. Supplying pigs with grass silage has shown to considerably improve their gastric health, even when they had access to straw. To provide fattening pigs with fibre such as grass silage is a cheap and effective way to improve the pigs' health. Roughages also help satisfy the pigs' need for exploration and rooting. In the video, which was created in the framework of the EU project OK-Net EcoFeed, the main findings are summarised. It is available in German, French and English.
