New video: Toasting soybeans for feeding laying hens

Soybeans are an excellent source of protein for both humans and livestock. However, they also contain anti-nutritive substances. These can be deactivated using a heat treatment.

There are different procedures for this heat treatment. One of these procedures is toasting. Usually, this process is carried out externally, not on the farm itself. In a new video by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) and Donau Soja, we see how soybeans can be processed on the farm of Johannes Edhofer. He cultivates soya himself and, after processing, feeds it to the laying hens on his farm.

This video was made by FiBL and Donau Soja in the framework of the EU projects OK-Net EcoFeed and Legumes Translated.
