1.1 New Organic Agricultural Association established in Armenia

In the framework of the Organic Agriculture Support Initiative (OASI), FiBL supported the creation and registration of the Organic Armenia Agricultural Association as a non-governmental organisation, which aims to develop policies and strengthen the capacity of farmers, producers and processors. The OASI project is supported by European Union funds with a contribution from the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC).

1.2 Organic farming drives sustainability in global agriculture

Organic farming is an important role model for changing the current agriculture and food system, argue eleven international experts in the renowned scientific journal Nature Sustainability. They call for coherent policies that support sustainable food systems, incentivize better farming practices, and raise the bar of what is acceptable in farming in the 21st century.

2.1 Video: Feeding pigs: effect of silage

Fattening pigs are often fed with highly ground feed and housed in an environment without straw. This lack of structure in feed increases the risk for gastric ulcers, which is a frequent health problem in pigs. It has been shown that providing pigs with grass silage clearly improves gastric health, even if straw is available.

This slideshow was created in the framework of the OK-Net EcoFeed project, in which FiBL is a partner.
