Technical guide: Producing quality organic potatoes step by step

Cover "Organic potatoes. Cultivating quality – step by step"

The new guide describes all the known measures with a significant effect on potato tuber quality.

As part of the OK-Net Arable project, FiBL and the Organic Research Centre ORC have produced a practical English guide on organic potato production. The publication can be downloaded for free or ordered as a printed version.

In commercial production, good potato yields are required to cover the high costs of cultivation and mechanisation. The very high quality requirements at every stage of marketing require the highest care from seed preparation to plant protection, from nutrient and water supply to harvest and storage. The new guide from FiBL and the Organic Research Centre ORC provides a good basis for achieving high-quality products. Special attention is paid to quality assurance. For each cultivation step, the guide shows how various factors affect the quality of the final product. Wherever possible, practical measures are provided to ensure good tuber quality. The guide was written by researchers and experienced advisors, and contains numerous photos, graphics and tables. The guide is a translation of a German publication of FiBL and was specifically adapted for UK conditions.
