SFIAR is calling for applications for this year’s award

The Swiss Forum for International Agricultural Research (SFIAR) offers an annual Award for graduates and scientists of a Swiss institution who work in agricultural research for development. The call for applications is out now.

The best PhD or Post Doc project wins CHF 5’000 and the best Master thesis project is awarded CHF 1’000. Additionally, the SFIAR Award may help winners enter into development work, or receive project funding.  The award is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture.

In 2014, Gubir S. Bhullar of the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL received the award for his project on sustainable and more climate-friendly rice cultivation. In the previous year, Christian Andres of FiBL won over the judges with his Master’s thesis on fertilisation of yams with poultry manure.

The deadline for applications is 14 July 2016.
