The focus of the programme is on awareness creation, market intelligence, development and documentation of supply chains by supporting market initiatives.

In step with widening market opportunities, the requirements placed upon the credibility and quality assurance of organic produce are also rising. Competent project support throughout the whole value chain is therefore becoming all the more important. FiBL’s services from production to sale encompass:

Albania: Sustainable Agriculture Support Albania (SASA): Market Development

The aim of the project is to develop and enlarge the local and international market opportunities for Albanian organic products.

The project is running from 2006 to 2009.

Project partners are BioAdria Market Development Unit (MDU) and Albinspekt.

Cuba: Market Development

The aims of the project are to develop the production and marketing of organic specialities from Cuba: citrus, mango, coconut, coffee etc., market development and to develop the internal control systems and local certification.

The project was started in 1997 and is still running.

Project partners are Citricos Caibe, Cubaexport and others.

India: Indian Organic Market Development Project IOMDP

The aims of the project are to coach and support the organic market initiatives (OMI's), awareness creation (India Organic Trade Fair 2007), and building up capacity of the ICCOA staff.

Project partners are the ICCOA, SIPPO, CBI, GMED-USAID, INDOCERT members and Organic Market Initiative-Partners.

Lebanon: Organic Market Development Lebanon

The aim of the project is the development of the domestic and international market for Lebanese organic products by supporting the establishment of a local certification body, as well as the support of pilot projects and various marketing, promotion and training activities.

The project is running from 2006 to 2009.

Project partners are Libancert, ALOA and bio.inspecta.

The aim of the project is to develop markets for Macedonian organic products and to support the Federation of Organic Producers.

Thailand: Market Development Thailand

The aim of the project is the development of organic production and marketing, and improving the local certification system in Thailand.

The project was started in 2007.

Project partners are the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards ACFS of the Ministry of Agriculture of Thailand and cooperatives.

Ukraine: Market Development Ukraine

The aim of the project is to support the development of the national market and to improve the access to the international market.

The project is running from 2006 to 2010.

Project partners are Organik Standart Ltd., IMO, Balkan Biocert, Biolan Ukraine, Organic Farming and Horticulture Association (vegetables & fruit OMI), AgroEast Baking & Milling and the New Danube Organic Fishery.
