The division of Entomology is looking for motivated
PhD and Master students
in host-parasitoid interactions / biological control.
The students will participate in a project investigating how and which companion plants are best employed in cabbage fields to attract and/or retain natural enemies (parasitoids) of lepidopteran cabbage pests. The aim of this approach is to achieve pest control by natural means to reduce pesticide use and increase biodiversity in crop fields.
We are looking for highly motivated candidates with interests in biological control, host-parasitoid interactions, insect population biology, behavioural ecology, or similar fields and with a keen interest to combine very intense field and greenhouse / laboratory work. A driver’s license is a must. We offer a very social working atmosphere and (for PhD students) the freedom to include own ideas (even genetic or modeling components that are not planned to date) within the framework of the project. The working language in the group is German or English. Start as soon as possible.
Applications should be submitted by email. Please include a brief statement why you are interested, a description of your experience, your curriculum vitae with publication list, and names and email addresses of two potential academic reviewers who know you. Feel free to also send informal inquiries, but ideally include the information about yourself anyway.
