Status analysis: Parasites in organic livestock

Organic farms are likely to have to deal with a higher degree of parasitation for two reasons: Firstly the animals have more contact with parasites due to the required pasturing and access to ranges and secondly the use of prophylactic medication is prohibited.

  • Documentation and evaluation of parasitation of different livestock categories on organic holdings.
  • Holding-specific surveys on the parasite problem as a basis for targeted measures to control parasites.
