OrganicXML
Standard of data for the traceability and safeguarding of origin of organic products

OrganicXML has been developed in the context of a project of the Federal Organic Farming Programme (Bundesprogramm Ökologischer Landbau)
Besides the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL e.V.) there are growers associations, inspection bodies, federations, processing and trading companies in Austria, Germany and Switzerland are involved in the development of the standard of data.

With organicXML there is now a standard of data for the traceability and safeguarding of origin of organic products available. Using organicXML it is now possible to build up systems of traceability along the complete value-added chain supported by a data base. The standard defines which data in which format are accompanying the products from production to the different steps of trading and processing.

The next steps of the project are the implementation of the standard of data into an XML-scheme and the development of product related standards for the product types of cereals, vegetables, potatoes, fruit and meat.

The following organisations are involved in the development of the standard:

  • ABCert GmbH
  • bio.inspecta
  • Bioland Beratungs GmbH
  • BÖLW
  • fab4minds GmbH
  • Geschäftsstelle des Bundesprogramms ökologischer Landbau
  • GS1 Germany (vormals CCG)
  • Helm-Software
  • Intact GmbH
  • KTBL
  • Naturland Marktgesellschaft
  • tegut... gute Lebensmittel
