Ensuring reliable yields in organic viticulture

Lucius Tamm, Dominique Lévite and Andreas Häseli

Sponsor(s)/Partners

Coop Switzerland

Purpose

To improve yield reliability in organic viticulture.

Methods

Pilot vineyards were established in four locations and were equipped with state-of-the-art meterologoical stations for constant monitoring of risks to the viticulture crop.

Results

The project was successful in achieving optimal yield reliability, persuading farms of the merits of organic viticulture and improving the exchange of information. The market situation remains challenging for organic viticulture producers as it is difficult to obtain large quantities of high-quality wine.
