About the 16th Organic World Congress OWC
The 16th World Congress of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements IFOAM will take place in Modena, Italy, from June 16 to 20, 2008. The congress will include several subevents.
The main part of the Organic World Congress will consist of the so-called System Value Track and of the Scientific Research Track, to take place in parallel June 18 to 20, 2008. The Scientific Research Track will constitute the second scientific conference of the International Society of Organic Agriculture Research ISOFAR 'Cultivating the Future based on Science'.
Prior to this the Organic Fruit Growing Conference, a Conference on Organic Viticulture and Wine as well as the Organic Textiles Conference will take place on June 16 and 17, 2008.

June 18-20, 2008: The 2nd ISOFAR Scientific Conference (Scientific Research Track of the OWC)
The scientific part of the Organic World Congress is coordinated by the International Society of Organic Agriculture Research (ISOFAR) in cooperation with International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) and the local organisers, the Consorzio Modena Bio 2008.
Contributions for the scientific part of the congress will be evaluated through a peer review system by the International Society of Organic Agriculture Research, ISOFAR and supported by a scientific and organising committee, of which FiBL is a member.
The scientific part will also integrate the 4th QLIF Congress and the scientific part of the Mediterranean Conference on Organic Agriculture, organised by the IFOAM Mediterranean Group.

June 18, 2008: Workshop Vision for an Organic Food and Farming Research Agenda 2025
On the 18th of June 2008 a workshop on the 'Vision for an Organic Food and Farming Research Agenda 2025' will take place fom 11.15 to 1 pm in the frame of the 16th IFOAM Organic World Congress of the 2008 in Modena, Italy. The venue is Palazzo Carandini.
About
Organic farming is a productive low-input agricultural system, emphasising sustainability and offering innovative concepts for global problems. The IFOAM-EU Group and ISOFAR have developed a strategic research program that focuses on ecological intensification, sustainable rural regions, high quality food for healthy nutrition and on integrating people and their ethical values into the future evolvement of food production. The workshop invites farmers, processors, traders, NGOs and scientists to debate how the practical and scientific aspects should co-operate on future innovations.

June 19-20, 2008: 4th QLIF Congress
The European Integrated Project QLIF will contribute to the scientific part of the 16th IFOAM Organic World Congress with several interdisciplinary workshops. These will take place June 19 and 20, 2008 in Modena, Italy.
These workshops will aim to summarize and synthesize the results and data gained during the first four years of the QLIF project. In total, five workshops will be held on product quality, safety of foods, crop productivity, livestock productivity, resource efficiency.
Additionally papers from the QLIF project will be presented at the 2nd ISOFAR Conference 'Cultivating the Future Based on Science', to take place June 18-20, 2008.
The event will be opened by Dr. Timothy Hall, European Commission, DG Research.

19.-20. Juni 2008: 4. QLIF Kongress
Ökologischer Landbau erzeugt Lebensmittel von hoher Qualität und erbringt gleichzeitig vielfältige Umweltleistungen. Dazu liegen zahlreiche Forschungsergebnisse aus dem QLIF-Projekt (Quality Low Input Food) vor. Diese werden auf dem 4. QLIF-Kongress in Modena am 19. und 20. Juni 2008 von den Projektbeteiligten vorgestellt und mit den Tagungsteilnehmern interdisziplinär diskutiert. Themen sind Lebensmittelqualität, Lebensmittelsicherheit, Produktivität im Pflanzenbau und in der Tierhaltung sowie effiziente Nutzung von Ressourcen.
