European Consortium for Organic Plant Breeding (ECO-PB)

Purpose

  • To provide a platform for the discussion and exchange of knowledge and experiences.
  • To support organic plant breeding programmes.
  • To develop scientific concepts of organic plant breeding.
  • To establish an independent body of competent experts to develop organic plant breeding standards.

Methods

ECO-PB has several activities to advance its goals including: winter wheat variety trials in several European locations; the organization of an international workshop on organic plant breeding; contributions to EU legislative efforts; and the creation of informational resources such as a website and a monthly newsletter.
