Animal Health
For many years the principal research area has been prophylaxis
and complementary therapy (especially homeopathy) of mastitis in
dairy cows. The aim is for more and more organic farms to implement
a concept of herd welfare and animal health management which involves
only minimal use of antibiotics. Using mistletoe to demonstrate
the principle, the division is testing the efficacy of herbal remedies
in the treatment of sick animals. Pure research is carried out to
investigate the possible effects of substances in homeopathic potencies
on living organisms. A project on cattle constitution observes the
correlations between physical condition, behaviour, temperament
and susceptibility to disease in cattle.
