Further development of the standardised homeopathic therapies for bovine mastitis (Brodowin II)

The Brodowin holding is a large bio-dynamically managed farm in Brandenburg, Germany with a loose-housing pen for 300 dairy cows and an adjacent cheese dairy.

Purpose:

To investigate whether homeopathic dilutions beyond the point of containing one molecule of the original substance (dilution 1:1030) can have a positive effect on udder health.


Brief Description:

Use of standardised homeopathic type remedies in high potencies.

Methods:

In a blind, placebo-controlled study a combination remedy of phosphorus, silicea and sulphur was administered at the beginning of lactation and during highest milk production.

Results:

Preliminary analysis indicates taht healthy udders were afforded an additional measure of protection while diseased udders did not respond to treatment.


Status:

Complete. Ph.D. thesis and data analysis in progress.
