Second ISOFAR Conference: Programme now online

(07.05.2008) From June 18-20, 2008, the second conference of the International Society of Organic Agriculture Research, titled 'Cultivating the Future based on Science' will be held. The tentative progamme is now available at the conference homepage. Prior to the conference, on June 17, several ISOFAR workshops will be held. FiBL is involved in the preparation of the event.

The World of Organic Agriculture - Now also available as hardback edition

(25.04.2008) The global yearbook on organic farming 'The World of Organic Agriculture' is now also available as a hardback edition. It is published by Earthscan, a leading publisher in English on sustainable development and environmental technology.The 2008 edition of this annual publication documents recent developments in global organic agriculture. It includes contributions from representatives of the organic sector from throughout the world and provides comprehensive organic farming statistics.
The book also contains information on the global market of the burgeoning organic sector, the latest developments in organic certification, standards and regulations, and insights into current status and emerging trends for organic agriculture by continent. For this edition, all statistical data and regional review chapters have been thoroughly updated. Completely new chapters on organic agriculture in the Pacific, on the International Task Force on Harmonization and Equivalence in Organic Agriculture and on organic aquaculture have been added.

Yearbook 2007 on organic farming in the Czech Republic: Growth continues

(21.04.2008) The new yearbook on organic farming in the Czech Republic has now been published by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic in cooperation with Bioinstitut - FiBL partner in the Czech Republic. The yearbook is available in English and in Czech.

In 2007, organic farming in the Czech Republic showed considerable development. As of December 31, 2007, the share of organically farmed land was - with 312,890 hectares - approximately 7.35 % of the total agricultural land., most of the land being grassland.
