Sustainability Analysis
Sustainability analyses are an interdisciplinary focal area at FiBL. The analysis of climate impacts is embedded in a comprehensive analysis of ecological, economic, and social criteria. The aim is to both analyse the sustainability of organic products and reveal opportunities to optimize production. In addition to the product level we also work at farm level and at the level of the agricultural sector. In addition to quantitative economic and ecological models we also use qualitative and participatory approaches.
Overview of projects
- Emissions inventories of organic tillage farms and vegetable producers in Switzerland (Project: Carbon-neutral tillage and vegetable production)
- Optimization of tillage and vegetable production as regards energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, and humus formation (Project: Carbon-neutral tillage and vegetable production)
- Optimization of dairy farming as regards energy use and greenhouse gas emissions (Project: Feed no food/Reducing concentrate feeding)
