Turkey Organic – A special forum at BIOFACH to reflect on "organic" opportunities and challenges when trading with Turkey

The pomegranate is becoming increasingly popular throughout Europe and other countries. Turkey is one of the main exporters of pomegranates to Europe and demand is growing by the year.

Turkey provides highly favorable production conditions for growing different organic crops. Due to its proximity to the European market, Turkey is a well-known producer and exporter of organic dried fruits and nuts but has also gained prominence in recent years as a supplier of organic pulses, IQF products, and dried vegetables. In the past, however, the risk of contamination with pesticide residues has exhibited a drawback when importing Turkish organic products.

In the context of BIOFACH 2016, a special forum, "Turkey Organic", will be taking place on Thursday, February 11, from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. in the Nizza Room (NCC Mitte) within the BIOFACH premises in Nuremberg. The forum will provide a space for experts and interested participants to share their experiences on effective solutions for minimizing contamination risks with pesticides in organic products. The event is being organized by the German-Turkish Cooperation – Organic Agriculture, which is implemented by FiBL and ETO and funded by the German Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

A detailed agenda of the event will be published by the end of January at the links below.
