Biodiversity and nature conservation

Maintaining and increasing biodiversity on farms and improving the contribution of farms to nature conservation (the whole-farm approach) are important goals in organic agriculture.
Numerous studies emphasize the important role of organic agriculture to increase biodiversity in agricultural landscapes.

As part of the project “Bionet” (www.bio-net.at ), FiBL Austria provides training and information to sensitise organic farmers on the importance of promoting the development of pollinating insects.
