ö ffentlichen Mitteln, und anfänglich belächelt, einen Status von internationaler Anerkennung erreicht. Die Skurrilen von gestern sind zu Vorreitern einer zukunftsträchtigen Agrarwirtschaft geworden.

The research institutions in the realm of conventional agriculture and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology have claimed billions in government research funding over the decades – only to manoeuvre agriculture down an ecological and economic blind alley. Contrast that with FiBL, which has received very modest public funding and was ridiculed in the early days, but has now attained internationally recognized status. Yesterday’s eccentrics have become the pioneers of an important trend for the future of agriculture.

Les institutions de recherche de l’agriculture conventionnelle et l’EPF ont obtenu au cours des décennies des milliards de francs de la part des programmes de recherche de la Confédération. Ils ne sont parvenus qu’à placer l’agriculture dans une impasse écologique et économique. A l’opposé, le FiBL, avec des moyens publics très modestes et dans un climat de moquerie à ses débuts, a acquis une renommée internationale. Les marginaux d’hier sont devenus les pionniers d’une économie agraire porteuse d’avenir.
